Formerly Casemate UK, Script rebranded in 2025 to reflect its strengths in both Trade Book distribution as well as Academic & Professional Book distribution. Script is somewhat unique in offering its clients unrivalled access to both these distribution networks, with separate specialist sales and marketing teams dedicated to each.

Casemate UK was incorporated some 20 years ago as a specialist distributor of books and amalgamated the book distribution operations of Greenhill Books and subsequently Oxbow Books, another book distributor operating since the early 1980s.

Script’s shareholders are Pen & Sword and Casemate Group, and Script benefits from being able to draw from the expertise and resources of its wider group.The Pen & Sword Group has been involved in local newspaper publishing and printing since the mid 19th century, moving into book publishing in the 1970s, and Pen & Sword has launched a number of specialist publishing imprints over the last 50 years. Casemate Group, headquartered in Pennsylvania, US, similarly publishes across a number of specialist niches, and is well known as one of the leading book distributors in North America.
