Alfred Rahlfs provides translations and a comparative analysis of inscriptions from Ezana, king of Aksum and the Abyssinian Empire that have previously been regarded as proof of the origin of Christianity in Ethiopia.

Frothingham here offers the Syriac text, with an annotated Italian translation, of Jacob of Sarug’s homily on the Baptism of Constantine (832 lines), based chiefly two manuscripts, one from the Vatican and the other from the British Museum.

This book is a reprint of Murad’s Arabic-Syriac dictionary, the first such dictionary ever composed, and the only work of the author. The present volume extends from the letter alif to the beginning of the letter sin; the second half of the dictionary has unfortunately been lost. For each Arabic word given, a number of Syriac equivalents are recorded. The dictionary also gives Syriac equivalents to Arabic idioms.

Nearly three years were spent assembling and editing this volume, which contains the diary of Mar Georgios Dionysios, the former Bishop of Aleppo. Una O Higgins OMalley was born in Dublin on 25 January 1927 and was less than six months old when her father Kevin OHiggins, was shot dead on his way to Mass by fringe Republicians. A committed political activisit who campaigned to end the violence in Northern Ireland, Una resolved to help people from both sides of the breach in their efforts to forgive, as she had done those killers of her father. This steadfast mission resulted in the opening of the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation. Contributors include Garrett Fitzgerald, Mary Robinson and Linda Hogan. Although this fragmentary Eastern Syriac Anaphora was previously published by G. Bickell, R.H. Connolly disagreed with several editorial and conjectural decisions. Thus, Connolly publishes here his own edited version of the text accompanied by a Latin translation and extended notes.
